Just saw your previous answer so wondered if you could answer this - we have been told by our land lord that we have three months to move out as he wants to sell his house that we rent. Is this right or should it be in writing? Thanks

Completely depends on what the t&c of
your contract
state.

Thanks - it was a rubbishy off-the-net type thing. It's all a bit complicated (isn't it always?) - wanted to know how to drag our heels about leaving if necessary.
Shouldn't be complicated. It should state quite clearly somewhere what the notice period is.
Question Author
Ok, thanks i'll have a look for it (wish me luck!) - but just to clarify, should the notice be in writing?
At the risk of repeating myself, it should say whether the notice can be given verbally or in writing in the contract. If it states something vague like 'three months notice must be given' then verbal would be acceptable.
Question Author
Sorry - being a bit dim - thought you were just referring to the length of notice as opposed to in writing/verbally. I'll have to find the agreement.
Well it is getting late. Love your avatar picture. Is it the old woman who lived in a shoe?
Question Author
Yup - so many children she didn't know what to do! That's me!
Ha ha. Don't you know what causes it?
Question Author
All planned - but didn't count on twins!
As already said it depends on your contract. However if it is a rolling contract, ie just a continuation of a previous one then three month notice is rather good!

Just out of nosieness why do you want to drag it out?
