Bathroom renovating

Just looking for a bit of advice please.

Currently only have shower, no bath, so looking to rip out shower cubicle and install bath. Is this a fairly easy job, or definitely need a plumber to do it?

Depends on how confident you feel. You''ll probably need to end up tiling walls, and sorting out the floor covering too. Can't imagine it's too difficult a job though. Have you plumbed anything before ?

Wouldn't be me, would be my partner. He seems confident, I'm not so!! Mess by a tradesman is one thing, but I don't want to end up paying double to rectify his mistakes.

Famous last words; but surely smashing something out ought not to go too wrong, wild flailing and catching other things aside: so my gut reaction is that even is a mess was made of putting in the new, one ought not be paying double to sort it out. Any additional labour taking out the messed up bits ought to be covered by savings having removed the shower yourselves. Maybe.

That said, in not familiar with the finishing touches, like the tiling and stuff, may pay you to get someone to do that bit. It's not too difficult if you take your time, but if you don't get it right you end up having to live with it.

is he a finisher? i only ask because while my husband is competant at doing loads of differen diy (this is something he would do himself) he gets bored quickly, so nothing is ever fully finished!
Why not get some quotes and see how much the actual saving would be - that might guide your decision

Oh yeah, he'd finish, he's obsessive like that! Might get the quotes tho, and might ask them to break down into fitting and tiling!

Any easy if time consuming job. After all you have hot, cold and drain already, just needs re directing that is all.
Turn off water. Fit stop valves. Turn on water, fit bath
reconnect and turn on. Sorted.

Use Plastic pipe, push fittings and then finish job by tiling , decorating appropriately.

I am no plumber but have done 3 times in our houses.

its not rocket science for anyone with some DIY skills, just needs plenty of planning and forethought,position of taps being one..

If he knows what he is doing, fine. But get a plumber to check it afterwards perhaps. apparently there are loads of cases of DIYers attaching things to the wrong pipes, so foul water gets mixed with the rest.
