Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

morning all, having a slow day here....
Hi Woofy - so am I. Hope you are both well.
Hmmm.....I asked Mr S if he had a pound coin for the trolley at Morrisons as I had no change, just as I was going out of the door,so he gives me the pound coin
and off I go clutching two letters for the post and the pound coin in my hand .
Now ..bearing in mind that the letter box is only at the bottom of the drive can anyone tell me why I posted the pound coin into the letter box and was still clutching the letters when I got to Morrisons .
Ahh bless yer Shaney. You're not the only one to do daft things like that. It's a regular occurance at this house.
I'm off to the Garden Centre now.

Just coming down from my sugar high, I'm not doing that again it made me start clearing clutter, haha...only did one shelf though but I've washed & polished about a dozen glass vases of varying shapes & sizes. None are posh ones but they look ok after a squirt of limescale remover & a good clean.

Love the link jno, I've got a strange fascination for B George, it's the 80s thing I think, I was addled on (prescribed) drugs :o)

ouch neti, hope you feel better soon, I remember how mine felt...and how it looked, I looked like I'd been in the boxing ring. When he x rayed it to see what was going on I could have cried, those plastic shields along side it were so uncomfortable.

lol shaney, several times I've put the wrong hand in the post box & realised just in time before I let go. I've probably posted letters with no stamp on though :o)
I've just sat watching a 'rarae' bird in the garden...got my binoculars & saw it was a very wet sparra! haha...must have just had a bath.

Ha ha shaney, yuears ago I put my purse in the fridge and the chicken in my bag, luckily I found out after a few mins!!!

I have an Hokie cokie tooth, it's in, it's out , it's in again then it;s out, only thing it doesn't do (as yet is shake all about) She's taken it out again as it was pressing on the infection (!) I said get it out, I don't care if I look like a toothless crone, I want to eat, drink and be merry or rather sleep! She cleaned out the root cavity and stuffed it with oil of cloves it tastes like, back tomorrow for tooth insertion yet again. Feels a lot better already! Robi the xrays here don't hurt, all I do is shove my finger in to hold the plastic square.

I know I'm making a huge fuss over nothing, but no one else listens to me!

I do not own a vase of any description as I'm not a cut flower fan
Last night when I was not sleeping I was think of the first grown up date I went on, I was about 15 and wore a pink and white checked dress from Dorothy Perkings, old white buckskin shoes that all we girls wore for communion and white gloves. I tried to fingerwave my hair and drying it by sitting on the fire escape. He was a teddy boy but everso nice, really sweet and blonde (only ever been out with 3 blondes in my life). He called for me (mum insisted) and we had tea and cakes on Eastbourne pier. Next time I met him he'd had my name tattooed on his arm, I was amazed. We only went out for about a month. I saw him later and my name had been covered by flowers, I ask you. Memories eh?

ah sweet memories ofinnocent love...my name was carved into a new(!) science bench by my first love & it remained for many years I was told. Gone now, along with the school.

Well if there's anything you need investigating, ask Detective Robi now, I'm on a roll, finding out all sorts of things today.

<oh poor neti, no vases...I'll send her one of mine...it'll cheer her up no end...>

oh spooky shaney, a lad called Robin sat in front of me in the form room & he was a brilliant artist, I liked him but he didn't bother with romance much. This is one of his doodles, I saved it in the hope he'd be famous one day...

I would never go out with anyone called Robin or Timothy!
Blimey Robi, that's good if a bit confusing!
Ooh that's lovely Robinia .
I've got a drawing my old schoolfriend did when we were at school .
She now does commisions and is a wonderful artist .She does all her own cards and things and I always get a lovely card for birthdays and Christmas from one of her paintings . Lots of people ask her to go and paint pictures of their homes .
She does quite well out of it .
I've said to her that I'm hanging onto the drawing in case she becomes famous :)
Aww I'm sorry Neti about your poor old toothy. I hope you feel better now .I've been there with the old gaps . Chin up old girl . I've got more gaps than a railway track :)
Just heard about some new type of specs. They sound really good. What do you think?

Nice jude, they'll do for me!
And me Neti. Only I haven't got about £1400 to spare. :~)
I was going to be called Robin if I was a boy...they hadn't got any girl names ready.
On which note...nighty night all oh not quite lidl have a great offer on unnamed fuchsias at the moment. Plants are about 8 inches tall, very bushy and cram full if buds, 6 plants fir 3.99. Local to me they're be 3 to 4 quid each in a nursery or garden centre
I need those glasses. I really do need them. It would improve my life. I am very long sighted and can't see my hand in front of my face!!

Night, night xxx
