Pruning Shrubs

[Robinia]

Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

i am ashamed to say that when the dentist said I just have to drill this tooth a bit, that I started whimping and slid right down the chair, and she said, Neti (not) the tooth is overhere with me! she was sitting at her bench with the offending tooth in her hand! Talk about embarassed!!!!

Shaney today we have had sunshine and showers and blooming hail storms and gales on occasions. Not enough rain to soak into the ground though.

I am ironing between sitting down and having cups of tea. Have to get some clothes ready to go on holiday next Friday.

Many years ago we were out walking the dog and I fell into deep rocky swampy mud....really coated in it and bruised all over. DH's response "oh get up you are fine"
It's a good job I love him :-)
Neti do take care of yourself though...dentist visits are massively hard.
