How long has it been jammed shut for?
Usually they don't want to open if they have been spinning, and if there is still some water in the machine.
So if the machine will operate, turn it onto an empy and spin and let it run through, then when it's doen that it should open.
What make is it? On our Hotpoint the at the bottom of the front is a removable panel, under this on the right hand side is a red plastic handle which operates the door release once the power has been switched off.
Have you still got the instruction book? Doors self locking is apparently a fairly common occurrence and most modern machines now have a manual over-ride, it's just a matter of finding it.You normally have to switch off at the power point though not on the machine itself.
It is a Hotpoint and I have the panel off and there is a flimsy blue plastic thing, it seems as if it is what you mean but it doesnt seem to be doing any thing
is the lock sign a lit up one? that means the machine is still plugged in try unplugging it completely see what happens, with no power to it then plug in again if that doesn't work try it again
falling that get the hammer ready......
I'd imagine it's the same as ours if it is you switch off at the supply and then pull down on the blue thing, while opening the door it doesn't "pop" open you have to open the door while pulling the over-ride. If that doesn't work I'm sorry I can't offer any other suggestion
mine does this and sometimes I need to just give the door a bit of a 'dunt' with my knee and then releases itself. Would think it means I have closed it obviously enough for it to allow the wash to happen but just not quite securely enough. Glad it seems ok now though.
