I need a new vacuum as the one I have doesn't pick up very well.

Firstly, I have a new carpet and it doesn't pick the fluff up. Secondly, I have 2 cats and their hair doesn't come up either.

Can anyone suggest a good vacuum which will solve these problems? I have a Dyson now which seems to have given up. I've spotted a new Dyson - DC41 - but there seems to be lots of other vacuum's around, and advice on Dyson's seems to be a bit mixed.

Any help is appreciated.

If your dyson is under 5 years old it will still be under the guarantee, if it is not its worth giving dyson a call as you might be able to get spares. Iv been a dyson fan for over 10 years now, first one I gave to my son so I then purchased a newer model which Iv had for over 7 years and its still works great esp when I regularly wash filter.
I agree with What..the?,
I've just recently bought a standard Henry Vac and it's brilliant.
Very long cord, really good suction, Easy rewind and a long flexible Hose.
