Does anyone have experience of cordless vacuum cleaners, the full-size type, not the small one used in a car?

most cordless products lack the oomph of mains power, its all about convenience.

I know you said not hand held but my Dyson hand held pet hair one for me is a life saver, if we were unfortunate enough to have our house on fire the one thing I would save would be that.

All our floors are wooden and we have a hairy dog. I thought that I might be encouraged to do an occasional scoot around the house with a portable rather than hauling out the mains version.

or you could get one of those robot ones - then no need at all to get the big one out, just lift feet up when eating tea!
