If the support structure is good enough you will need to fix it to a strong framework of posts and cross members
would not last 5 mins in mine...I am very high and have lost inumerable arches...obelisks etc...patio tables and chairs (wrought) have lifted and travelled around garden..
I'd say no, but bamboo itself is - plant some! we have a stand of bamboo in our garden and it's very resilient.
be careful with bamboo..is very pervasive have had trouble in containing and erradicating the stuff!!
Ours is OK so far, murray - it's been in the garden 5 years, it's only spread into a 3ft square space. If we find any errant runners, we just pull them up.
Chose a clump forming variety and dig a trench/ditch round it makes it easier to grab the roaming shoots
murraymints, I think we are talking about dead/cut bamboo, it wont be growing anywhere.
No ratter, it's alive and well in my garden, in a tidy stand!
The OP appears to be asking about this stuff, its cut and dead.

Ratter yes...but boxtops suggested planting bamboo as opposed to a bamboo structure..
The best quality bamboo screening is very tough if well fixed brushwood screening is probably better though as it filters rather than deflects the wind
I sincerely apologise, I missed that bit :) and there was me thinking "this lot have gone off their trolley again" :))
Rowanwitch makes a valid point, filtering the wind is very important. I had a fence built a few months ago and the spacing wasn't right, during a recent storm the fence didn't allow the wind through and the pressure snapped all the 4 inch square concrete posts.
Ratter...fair assumption to make my friend !!! hee hee...
I have it in my garden and would agree with Rowan, as long as it's well fixed it will be fine. I love mine, looks really nice.

I have got some Birch screening, works no probs it lets the wind filter through. I think that you are supposed to plant Bamboo in containers buried n the ground.
I agree that if it is a fence it will need to let the wind though or it will act as a sail and get blown down or broken in strong winds.
I erected a 6ft picket style fence with widish slats..cut to a wavy top.. SCREWED with heavy duty brass screws to posts sank a good 2 feet..have to go around occasionaly and add/replace/tighten screws..but so far so good..touch wood..or bamboo ??...
........ I lived in a very narrow street not far from Ratter many years ago. A rather attractive woman opposite had bamboo blinds in her bathroom....... er ...... how can I put this? They're virtually transparent with the light on ;o)

Nothing to do with the OP though sorry ............ just sayin' :o(
The Builder!!! We still have those Bamboo blinds!!!! it was you naked in the window with binoculars wast it!!! you wait till I tell my Mrs's !!!!!
