I have found some round soft things on my lawn this morning. They look like marbles but they are soft and springy. Anyone any ideas as to what they are please?

They're probably puffballs - let them grow to maturity then they'll go all scaley and develop a hole in the top. Then you can poke them and little puffs of 'smoke' will come out! (They're quite harmless btw)

If they are small and clear they could be snail/slug eggs. That's all I can think of.

I am really curious to know what are the mysterious marbles.... Strange items have sometimes appeared on my lawn, but I have been able to come-to a reasonable explanation for their appearance......apart from an odd piece of metal, which may have fallen off an aircraft.

heathfield, that's probably it!! she has a herd of wild tortoises breeding on her lawn!!
