What's the best exterior paint to use on wet rough cast (circa 1950) garage walls. They are white at moment, presume snocem, but want to have a colour to match the adjacent house wall blocks.
It'll depend on what's on there at the moment. It's been a long time since I used Snowcem. I didn't even realise that it was still available.
It's a cement-based paint. Unless they've changed the formulation, it can only be applied over previous Snowcem or limewash paints. I can't see it staying put over modern acrylics.
Any idea what's on there now? Is it matt, powdery, flaky?
If it is powdery of flaky you'll have to remove as much as you can with a wire brush or scraper. You then have to use a stabilizing solution prior to painting if the surface is powdery.
Dulux weathershield or sandtex smooth masonry paints are good quality.
