Sink Problem

I have recently moved into a new house where the wash basin doesn't have a plug but something that I think is called a "pop up". The problem is that it drains very slowly, how can this be adjusted?

Run some water into your sink ... now press the pop up rod.. if you then grab the pop up plug and lift it...does the water flow away then ? If so, then you know it's not your waste pipe blocked... then you need to adjust the lift on the linkage under the basin to make the plug rise higher. Stick your head under the basin and you should see the linkagage.. it's just two...

Ours lifts out but because of the slow flow the drain tends to block more frequently. If you are going to put drain cleaner directly down the plughole, might I suggest you remove the pop-up plug completely whilst you do this. The neoprene seal around the plug can be affected by some of the drain cleaners as I learned from experience.

Stick your head under the basin and you should see the linkagage.. it's just two rods. It's just a matter of sliding the coupling along the rod.
Hope this makes sense..!
