Is it possible to take a cutting off a colius plant? I grew it from seed last year & it's a fine specimen.

Yes its fairly easy , pinch out a healthy looking part and put it in a small jar of water until it forms roots, then pot it up.

I agree, they take root fairly easily.

Be sure to cut just below a node (leaf junction) trim the large, opposite leaves off back to the stem. Your cutting should be about 2" long.

As far as I know, the ones commonly grown are perennials, which are from warmer climates, but are usually treated as annuals in colder climates like the UK.
Confused?, me too.

As it's vegative propagation, you want from the cutting, you will get an exact clone from the cutting, if you propagate from seed, you may get a variation, depending on cross-pollination.

with the correct care and a little green fingered luck, you should be able to manage a coleus as a perennial indoors . Good luck...Chip
