Dish Washer Problem
19 Answers
I inherited a Hotpoint Aquarius dish washer when I moved in here. It is now twelve years old but in spanking good condition. This morning when I opened it the drawer which holds the detergent tablet hadn't opened. Grubby dishes. I have tried twice since and put a cleaner through and no change.
I have taken the front of the door off and can see the simple mechanism which pings the detergent drawer open and can work it manually but it won't do it on its own.
Any tips on what I can do or is it too old for me to be able to obtain a new part?
If push comes to shove can I stick a tablet in at the beginning in say the cutlery holder?
What I don't want to do is wash up.......my religion forbids the hand washing of dishes.
Thank you.

Apparently you can replace it -

But it'll need more research to see if professional help needed. One site suggests it's a simple 30 minute job, but doesn't go into detail.
Can you identify the model number?

Thank you all for the replies......nothing to lose by chucking in the tablet I guess.
It will just froth up earlier I suppose and the final rinse stays the same.
Flyhalf..can't open your last link....the model number is DWF30.
The only requirement to join my religious group is to bring wine and chocolate. x

Thanks Lilacben...I did wonder about that and tried doing it but rather than the door sticking it seems whatever makes it ping open isn't doing that. I have just put it on again with the front of the door off so I can watch to see if whatever pings does so and the problem will be as you say, with the door sticking.
Lord it's noisy with the front off though. :-)

Nun...don't sacrifice your Marigolds....I'm too short to reach the sink to wash up. Ask MrsO.x
Chucked the tablet in the bottom of the machine....everything is squeaky clean.....Phew. :-) Money saved on new machine can now go on shoes and wine.

Red nails? In days gone by I used to paint just one of mine black and give it a white tip - like a monchrome French manicure - then I'd put a tiny dab of gold right in the middle it looked like I tiny glass of Guinness! It worked best when the rest of the nails were just done in clear polish. I must do that again
