What Are My Rights If A Dog Comes In My Garden?
50 Answers
What happens if a dog comes in my garden?
1) What if it does nothing but i'm worried that it is going to attack me, my kids or my other pets and i keep hold of it, would the owner of the dog be able to legally take it away before i contacted the police?
2) A dog does get into my garden and attacks my chickens?
I just want to know as selfish people feel that it's a bit of fun when their dog/s get into my garden (through the hedge) which they do quite often, but it's upsetting to me aswell as my chickens, cats and rabbits. I did actually have a dog that got in the garden that nearly mauled my cat to death and cost hundreds of pounds in vet bills. All i got from the owner was a meek apology. Surely it is illegal for dogs to be off a lead. I am sick of it!

Yoko, please do NOT reply to any of my posts in future as you have been rude and offensive in the past and I really wish you would not post on my questions, i'm sorry if i sound rude but I really don't wish to have any input from you. For everyones information, I do have my chickens in a VERY secure pen and my rabbit in a VERY secure hutch and run, my cat is the only exception, which of course she would be as cats don't exactly live in a cage or on a lead. She is a very nervous house cat that goes out for about 10 minutes everyday and, (gods honest truth), doesn't leave the garden. As for my garden not being secure, I have a very large garden that has plenty of chicken wire, hedges, gates, walls and fences. I invite you all (except yoko) to come round and secure it, you bring the fencing and knowledge and I'll supply the booze.
Pah haha ahahaaaaa!
Oh dear.
you have just proved my point
all you can do is gripe at people who are trying to help you - I gave you quite a few good ideas there, as did many other people, but you have ignored them - none of its good enough because you want someone to tell you you can shoot animals - well they wont, so get over it.
and as for your rather petulant mispelling of my name, and the deliberate non invite ... haha, yeah i'm gutted i'm not allowed to come round...you sound like so much fun
like i said, you make me laugh...

Swiper, unfortunately you have few rights inthis case .. if the dog is not dangerous or is not aggressive then its ok to be off its' lead, more likely the dog is in the mad zone where at the start of a walk it wants to joyfully run mad like the low intellect animal it is, barring some of the more intelligent dogs of course. Advice is right about making your borders dog proof. Dog owners do not understand how normal people feel .. we dont like turds (even nicely bagged and left danging fron a branch) and are not convinced that the barking terrier is not going to bite even though the owner assures you it won't. Booby trap it
