Designs for bedroom and bathroom

My husband is redecorating and refurbishing my bedroom and I am having a new bathroom suite - any ideas for something not too expensive but that looks a bit 'wow factor'?  Does anyone know of any good magazines or books with ideas?  .. as I have none!  I like a modern, clean look but not too stark - thanks !!

The B&Q bathrooms magazine/catalogue is pretty good for stealing cheap ideas from

Good Homes magazine and Ideal Homes have some good ideas but tend to spend alot doing it but thers no harming in getting ideas!

You could try the websites for TV channels and programmes. For example, www.uktvstyle.co.uk/ has a feature on bathroom design showing eight options. That might be a good starting point.

Also try the big manufacturers' sites - Dulux had a feature where you could see what different colour schemes would look like.

The wife's decorator told her that you can start your design with a fabric and decorate around it. So perhaps find a bedspread (or a pair of draperies, etc) that you like, then paints and decorator objects that coordinate. She (decorator) said have three main colours that you use throughout and a fourth one that just is barely used. She said the fourth colour prevents monotony. She also said if you don't know what you're doing, have a theme and stick close to it - don't try to mix two themes in one room unless she helps us!

I just stay out of the way....

I think I need to meet the wife's decorator!  I'll keep watching all the house programmes on telly and buy some magazines!
