If you were actively involved with your father's affairs then you'll know more about them than any solicitor.

My MIL made a will and let the solicitor who made it name himself as executor. We felt that we did the detailed work for him (e.g. discrepancies in the Current Account that he hadn't notcied).

But he will know about the technical stuff.
