i use finish all- in- one tablets do i still need to put salt in ?

Salt is used to regenerate the ion-exchange resin in the built-in water softener. If you are in a soft water area, this resin doesn't get used up and does not need regenerating - so you can get away with using no salt ever. The harder your water (ask water supplier for an analysis if you don't know) the quicker the salt will be used up.

I always have to add salt as well. When it runs out the glassware comes out cloudy.
