Can anyone recommend a steam iron? I have a Tricity at the moment which has been fine, but it has a crack in the casing and really needs replacing. Thanks.

I have Murphy Richards comfort grip....for a trillion years still going strong !
This is funny that you have posted this today. This morning I was on the phone to Morphy Richards and they were trying to persuade me to buy their phone deal of the day which is a steam iron and the price considerably lower than the published price. Give them a call to see if it interests you 0844 871 0960

Even stranger that murraymints was typing that at the same time as me!
Doo doo doo doo....

Spoooooky !
The lovely family at my local laundry/dry cleaners have lots of lovely gadgets.

I'm fairly sure I have an iron, I have no idea where it is when it was last used or what make/model it is.

I am now wondering when I last ironed something!?!?!
Are you married Ecclescake? Do you know exactly what WIFE stands for? Washing, Ironing, F...... , Etc
Morrisons do a basic steam iron, which is perfectly adequate for my modest needs, for a tenner.
What's an iron?

Mine is a Phillips, had it for years, does quite a good job, it's the weight of the iron which presses but if you have arthritis or other conditions, then a lighter iron would be a better thought.
Early on in my marriage I was told that I didn't iron shirts properly so Mr Cake took to doing them himself and then used the local laundry and continues to do so.

Why would I object????
I blame my mother who taught me to iron shirts rather well.
my definition of WIFE

Winking
Inking (the names on the kiddies school clothes)
Fiendishly being a woman
Errands that you send the hubby on

:-D

(not worked yet)
I find ironing rather therapeutic..strange but true. :o)

Thanks to all. Gina, what exactly is a steam generator?
Blow the WIFE thing, nibble irons his own shirts. Like Eccles, we rarely iron anything. Life's too short to flatten stuff that doesn't need it.
No one knows how to iron in my family. My mum is absolutely useless. Now living back at home I'm just decided to accept I'm getting creased clothes. When I iron a shirt it cannot and must not have any creases in it. I used to wash my school clothes and just put them on wet straight out the shower - perfection after 45minutes of bodily steaming.
