Removing A Door.

Before I resort to the saws is there a clever way that I don't know of to remove a long in place door?

I have scraped the paint off the screws but they look really worn....none of my screw drivers want to grip....

Are the hinge pins removable?

Check if the hines have a centre piin to knock out, then you don't have the weight of the door to worry about as you sweat and scream then eventually get the crow bar out.

These hinges don't appear to have a centre pin.....I will remove some of the many paint layers to check.....but they don't look like the ones where the pins work out and surprises you....
Will check that first....

Failing all that I will open a bottle and fetch the crow bar.....☺

Gness, I can't imagine a door hinge without a pin. However, I'm not really famous for my DIY skills

Most door will not have hinges pins, stuey.
They rattle too much.

Have you tried clonking the driver with a hammer , gness?

Well, Talbot, if that's correct it shows how observant I am. Then what do they "hinge" upon? I'm talking about walk through doors, not fancy cabinet ones.

I have removed stubborn screws and bolts on smaller projects by shearing the head off with a Dremel tool, and the drilling out the remaining shank.

These could be security butt hinges, Stuey...there will be a pin for it to move on.....but not to be removed....I think....learning as I go here....
Doors I've had with an easily accessed pin were a pain...

Exposing the hinges and screws now......and the hammer is being used, Talbot....☺

If it's an old door, Gness, then probably slotted screws.

Use the screwdriver as a chisel and clean out the paint in the slots. When the slots are cleared, put the screwdriver squarely into the slot and hit the screwdriver hard with a hammer. This breaks the "seal", and then it should turm

Try a small turn clockwise, then, anti-clockwise.

Whoooo! Door is off! Thank you all for your advice....I used all the tips bar just one of Fabonacci's....well I drilled but not where told to......

The screws were all different, MrB......I guess the door's been off for new flooring in the past and put on badly.

The most difficult was the last bit....the door's in an awkward place...well it was....and I needed someone to hold the door up off the floor to keep the screw centre of the hinge.....but....

I found Felicity Forster's book on Soup making perfect.....☺

And aren't chisels interesting tools......
