I made a big pan of chutney today, and despite regular stirring, when all the chutney was bottled, I found the stainless steel covered in burnt on chutney.
Ideas please, for getting it off!!

Dampen it then cover it with salt.
Leave it overnight then give it another go.

Soak it hot water and soda crystals. Leave for a couple of hours then stir with a plastic or wooden spoon. Repeat.
Also, if the pan can take it, use a metal scourer on it.
when I burn my pans - I just pour domestos/strong bleach onto the burnt bits - leave for a cuppla days - and it just scrapes off. good luck
I use washing powder.
Soak, scrape, soak, scrape, soak scrape . . . soak . . . scrape . . .
or buy another one
But washing powder works...
