Ya know, its a mystery innit?

When we were trying to buy some we thought exactly the same.

Anyhoo, being the tight northerner I am I bought some 2nd hand for £15.00 and shabby chic-ed them.

I guess it is a reflection of the manpower costs rather than the material costs.
It is manufacturing the joints and assembling the parts which is expensive so it's comparable number of parts, not size, which is the factor.

but even IKEA crap bedside tables are expensive!
what Z-M said, size isn't important.
I keep telling Mrs retro that!!!
Because it's where one tends to keep the dearest things in one's life.
Totally agree and I have never in my life owned new ones, always second hand or hand me downs and prettied up.
I agree bednobs. I have been looking for a pair of bedside tables for ages and even in charity shops for a pair is what I consider expensive. IKEA is also expensive.
Well it has to be worth paying a bit extra for something classy to keep your beaker on ...

Lucky in some things, being married to a carpenter is one of them. Have about 8 small tables and 4 larger ones, all turned and crafted by the old man. Would seriously grieve me to have to pay for one.
Are they ? Can't say I noticed when I moved into my place and bought too many of them.
Haha Dave, id forgotten that post on THAT post-one of the funniest ive ever read.
Mazie, imagine being married to a jeweller......
