Nesting Time?

Every day for the past week a very determined little blue tit has been trying to get into my house. It keeps tapping on the glass of the kitchen door every few minutes!
I've put a nesting box on the wall nearby, and although she's interested she's not convinced.
I'd do anything to help - short of throwing open the house.
-Any ideas?

Hi Aqua. Hope you are keeping well. Perhaps she/he is looking for a mate and seeing her/his reflection in the window. It takes the birds a while to get used to new nesting boxes so give it time. xxx
Don't worry, it's most likely seeing it's own reflection or is after insects that have gathered or become caught in a spider web in the corners of the glass.
Hi Aqua..from the RSPB site...

"This is territorial behaviour and fairly common at the moment as birds claim, and then defend, their breeding territory. This blue tit has chosen its nest site nearby. Seeing its reflection in the window it thinks that another bird is intruding and tries to drive it away by pecking at it. Many birds do this and they will also attack other reflective objects such as car wing mirrors and hub caps.

These activities are difficult to stop. Placing cling film or non-reflective cellophane on the outside of the glass may work but often the bird will move to another window and resume its attack. Soon though, it will be diverted by its busy schedule of nest-building and rearing its young."

Thank you mazie, slaney and my namesake!
I'd assumed that she was using the window as a mirror, but every few minutes she would fly to my nesting box and have a good look at that. So I thought she must be searching for a nesting site.
Anyhow, the visits seem to be tapering off now, so I guess I may have seen the back of her. Shame!
I'm well, thanks, as I hope you are. Pushing 90 now, so not as active as the blue tits.
Hi Aqua...Blooming heck, these past 10 years have gone quickly. I think we joined Answerbank within a month of each other. When's the big 90?
Are you still sailing? x
