Sunday Lawn Mowing

Does anyone else agree with me in thinking that it is exceedingly antisocial to mow the grass and then spend ages strimming the garden on a sunny Sunday lunchtime which is precisely what my neighbour did today?

I bet if his garden was overgrown and full of weeds, you'd be moaning about that instead.

I did ours late morning, no complaints from anyone but to be fair I have got decent neighbours.

no it really dosnt bother me what day my neighbours do it and i love the smell of freshly cut grass :)

Tilly - he works from home but is often practising basketball shots into a net in the garden in the "working" week!

I've no objection to people gardening on Sundays - just not noisy stuff at lunchtime when we would have eaten outside but couldn't as we couldn't hear ourselves speak.

Far worse is starting up a Barbecue and choking the neighbors with the smoke and smell of paraffin burning!

"just not noisy stuff at lunchtime"....how does your neighbour know what time you are eating? People eat at wildly different times, particularly at the weekend.

Funny how ones own machines are never as loud and irritating as ones neighbours' machines.

Folk eat at different times. If the timing bothered you, you could always ask if he could delay it for an hour so you could enjoy your lunch in peace. But to be honest he isn't obliged to live his life to your timetable.

I have a neighbour who we all refer to as Mr Grumpy, (interestingly the previous owner was actually called Mr Jolly), but he will happily have his huge hedges trimmed at the crack of dawn on a Sunday but moans about anyone doing any kind of repair work to their neighbouring houses during the week.
A real pain in the behind.

I think gardening jobs have to be done when the weather allows. What is really annoying is when my neighbours decide to have a bonfire on really nice days just as everyone has their washing on the line.
