Slugs

Can anyone advise me how to deal with slugs, they are eating my garden plants. I have put slug pellets down which attracts a few but i seem to be over run with the darn things

Everyone is at present.
I have no proof but I think they are responsible for 3 of my tomato plants just disappearing, plus later the pepper plant I put in to replace them :-(

Thank-you Quoi, that was very helpful. I assume you just put the crushed egg shells and coffee grounds actually on the soil in the tubs?

Yes. They have to come in contact with the shells/grounds.

I am overrun with them too, I blame the mild, wet winter we had ! I do use slug pellets, but have to be very careful because I feed the birds, so I'm going round early morning picking up the dead and dying ones before the blackbirds get a chance to eat them.
