I want to free up some floor space, and would like to put the tv on the wall its a 42" plasma but Im worried it may be to heavy, has anyone done this, and has it been ok.

Depends what type of wall it is. Masonry (stone / block work) no problem. Studded wall (plasterboard on timber or metal battens) could be a problem. You would need to screw the bracket into the upright timbers OR fit a sheet (patress) of MDF or plywood which screws into the uprights.

We've had a wall mounted 42" L.E.D for several years now and had no problems sorry I cant give you any details as to the fixtures and fittings as it was all part of the deal. Two guys came out and did the job in a couple of hours.

Plasma tvs are a lot heavier than LEDs. What make and model is it?

Mine is fixed to brackets on brick wall. I needed a multi plug ext lead & shelf for freeview, home hub, dvd player & cctv.

Wanting to free up floor space? Simple - get a smaller TV. No-one needs a 42 inch unless they live in a mansion and view from afar.

You will need a bracket that fits the designated tv fixing points and the bolts that came with the tv fruitsalad. If you can post the model no we can recommend. The link may help.

diddlydo, Fruitsalad wasn't asking if it was OK to have a 42" TV.


Many people have such and even bigger wall mounted in a large room.

We have a 42" TV and it's now considered fairly average in a not too large room. Certainly not a mansion. A thank you from the OP would have been nice but hey ho.

diddly the space is being taken up by the tv unit that sits on the floor, which the tv sits on, by the way, the size of my TV was not the question.

We had a 50 inch on a motorised bracket - but it needed bolts right through the wall - it retracts flat to the wall when turned off.
