Meant to say that you should not be needing to clean filter more than once, (max. twice), a year. Your system and rads. Should be looked if you have to do this, also how often are you topping up as it sounds like you are introducing new water.
I clean the filter fairly frequently purely as a precautionary measure and it's never very dirty. Then I either throw the drained water away and let the system top itself up or put it back after straining it through a piece of fine muslin ( or a lady's stocking !)
.. must say I thought I had all the tools needed for most plumbing jobs .. but I dont have any ladies stockings ! .. I can imagine what the wife will say if I suggest I pop into Anne Summers for some stockings !
When you remove your filter you are only removing a tiny percentage of the inhibitor, I would'nt worry about diluting it with fresh water, although 4 times a year seems a bit excessive.
Thanks Alava,
Old stockings and tights have several DIY uses and really come in handy to strain old paint into paint kettles to remove bits of skin etc. I try to avoid the top bits if I can !
There is no need for this frequency, if it is see through and is clean leave it alone. The magnetic rod will hold any metal crap as it is meant to do and only remove if it needs it, it does not have to be spotless. Remember it is not a filter as such!
