grape hyachiths

i have some grape hyachiths in my garden (believe thats what they are called) it looks like thin blades of grass with a purple flower any one any ideas how to get rid of them, tried poison, pulling them up, the more you do to get rid of them the more they seem to grow.

You've really got to look at a strong mix of glyphosate. I prefer to by the stuff neat as Roundup and mix it myself. A 50/50 roundup mixed with water should kill the worst weeds...including tree stumps !!! Failing that, it's a constant battle with the spade i'm afraid. You could try pulling the leaves and flowers off every time they show above ground. Good luck

I've got the same problem, i'll be keeping an eye on this post. For some years now, i've just been puuing them up as they come through, they're thinning out now, but its got to be the hard way, digging them up would be easier, but if you'vr got plants you want to keep, that options out.

Here I am waging a never ending battle with ground elder and we're getting posts about a plague of grape hyachinths!

I don't know next thing somebody will be telling us about all the nasty bee orchids that are ruining their lawn! :c)

I know what you mean jake  - try getting rid of red leaved oxalis!!

Sorry ferradino - I'd do what IAP says & wait until they've flowered & dig them up.  You may be left with the odd few but just repeat until they've gone.

yes In a pickle thats the little blighters, i have just moved  into this house and the front garden 12ft x 12 is covered in them and i dont particularly like them thats the reason id like to get rid, thanks for all your suggestions.
