When it stops growing is the practical answer.

You can cut lawns all year providing there's not any frost or snow on them. Don't cut them too short either...2" long over winter should be fine.
Unless you've sown 'Canada Green', that never stops growing, and grows like a Greyhound after a Rabbit.
