Stains on Cream carpet

Hi everyone,

I've been living in a rented flat for over a year with cream carpets throughout. Naturally there have been a few spillages and accidents and now there are a number of old dried blemishes on the carpet. I bought some vanish mousse to try and lift them but it wasn't very good to be honest. Any hints or tips? These are quite small drips and marks rather than large stains.

I think your better off hiring a carpet cleaning machine,or get a carpet cleaning firm to do it.The mistake people make  is rubbing the stain further into the carpet.I think you can hire a machine from place's like focus d.i.y..etc..(rug docter)(:)

I too have a cream carpet & suffer the same problem.  I've tried 1001 aerosol mousse and 1001 liquid spray but as soon as I rub the stuff in,even gently,  it seems to spread the grubby mark further. My biggest success was to rub one stubborn spot with a very dilute solution of Ariel liquid.  It did still leave a slight mark but not as bad as the others.   I suspect Vinny is right and that we'll all be off to the Hire shop for steam cleaning machines before long. I think a compulsory "slippers only indoors " rule is essential for light coloured carpets, but even then, accidents will happen.

This stuff (Carpet Power) is absolutely brilliant. I've only used it on a cream sofa, but it's cleared bolognese sauce and felt pen without a trace. Always work from the outside of the stain into the middle, to avoid spreading.

I'll ber popping to Tesco and waiving some crisp notes at them in return for some of their finest Carpet Power products. If the letting agency overlords think they can keep any of my �600 deposit they've got another thing coming.

I have found carpet power good (and it smells nice) but if there is �600 at stake, I'd hire a machine

I find white vinegar the best. Once the stain is removed, gently go over the area with a damp cloth in order to remove the vinegar smell.
