How Much Do Decorators Charge?

We normally do it ourselves but thought this time we might treat ourselves to getting a professional in.

I know there are lots of factors to be taken into account but roughly ballpark figure?

25ft X 12ft, quite good walls, half and half paint and paper, skirting boards but NOT doors.

OH recons £500, I think nearer £1000. He won't pay that.

Any ideas welcome.

Round here, (just outside of London), I’d expect to pay about £150 a day for a decorator. I’ve no idea how long it would take to decorate your room, though.

What are you expecting? Is the decorator stripping walls, papering, just a coat of paint, moving furniture, getting rid of rubbish, supplying materials?

We would strip walls and take away rubbish, supply materials

Darcy...after doing the prep, undertaking to shift the rubbish, getting materials on site, etc. How long do you think it would take you to redecorate, in days? 2? 3? I would think you are looking at 3 days minimum with a labour cost of £120 a day for a pro. Whether you will get a busy decorator, with credentials, on those terms is another matter.

Just had my living room decorated. We have had this chap before he charges 120 a day he supplies all paint. Had a quote off another one he charges 150 a day. Expect to take 3 to 4 days for living room. Well worth the money.would never do it myself anymore.
