I've just started exploring the new garden. Two plants I can't identify.

It looks very peony like to me but has no foliage and is v close to the ground.

Any ideas please?

I think The first is a peony but the pics not too good on my tablet. It looks like the flowers are coming way too early but it might be my picture or you might be somewhere very hot !
The second is Pulmonaria officinalis. Very useful Spring ground cover. Can get a bit out of hand but easy to pull up the bits you don't want.

I see lots are going for peony and it does look like young leaf as it comes through but your pic looks like some kind of red florets already forming in the centre and peony buds don't come out like that - they are green balls much later in the Spring. Well that was my thought which may well be wrong. You may have to wait and see.
