Plant Identification

I've just started exploring the new garden. Two plants I can't identify.

It looks very peony like to me but has no foliage and is v close to the ground.

Any ideas please?

The first one looks exactly like my peony. I'll post a pic of mine.

The first one is possibly emerging leaves of Rogersia and the other possibly lungwort.

The second one is Pulmonaria/Lungwort.
The first one is bugging me as I know I've seen it before

I think the first is peony and the second is pulmonaria. We have both in the garden and they are at a similar stage.

snakeshead fritillary occurs rarely in the UK
but the Turks dug up all theirs and sold them
and so there are now a lot more

just take a generous swiggette of a dru white

Thanks all. I'll keep an eye on the alleged peony and update in a few weeks. Rocky I agree. V similar.

I'm 100% certain that the first pic is peony and the second is pulmonaria aka lungwort.

I agree. Peony and pulmonaria - the latter is v. good ground-cover. Ilove peonies, but it usually blows a gale and hails the day after they open. :(

Please forgive my bad spelling, right at the begining. I meant 'Rodgersia aesculifolia' thats what it looks like to me anyway.

I think The first is a peony but the pics not too good on my tablet. It looks like the flowers are coming way too early but it might be my picture or you might be somewhere very hot !
The second is Pulmonaria officinalis. Very useful Spring ground cover. Can get a bit out of hand but easy to pull up the bits you don't want.

I see lots are going for peony and it does look like young leaf as it comes through but your pic looks like some kind of red florets already forming in the centre and peony buds don't come out like that - they are green balls much later in the Spring. Well that was my thought which may well be wrong. You may have to wait and see.

It looks exactly like the peony in my garden at the moment - the "buds" are actually the new leaves beginning to form, not the flowers.
