Help Identify Plant

my mum gave me a plant that looked like the top of a pineapple now after a couple of years it has flowered with a waxy long pink flower with green bits hanging out the end of the flower has anyone any ideas please x

no that's not it ,the flowering part is about a foot long and hangs down thankyou anyway xx

Wow a foot long? Is the green part of the plant that size and are the leaves hard and spiky like the top of a pineapple?

they are pointed leaves but not spiky and it is like a big pineapple top having a bad hair day .I can't ask my mum as it didn't flower when she was alive xx

Could it be a red yucca?
Not sure if this is a houseplant or large garden plant?

no the leaves are similar to the bromeliad x

Hey Mally, currently puffing up the chest and beating it like a lowland gorilla.
Yes!!!... the plant is identified.

And there is lot's of info on the site to keep it healthy and producing offspring.
One day it may become a family heirloom ;-)
