Does the water go straight into drain hole, or does some water lay on the floor after use, and need mopping up each time, having never used one or seen one in use, I am not sure what to expect

I believe the flooring is levelled in such a way that the water drains away but you may have to dry mop it if you want your floors bone dry
The floor should be 'laid to falls'; that means it slopes towards the drain. The water should clear of its' own accord, but you made need to mop some water, it depends on the layout of the room as to whether this will be necessary after every use.
Yes, water on the floor in my experience.
I am disappointed with the Wet Room, as it is very descriptive.......just a wet room.
There is a drain and the tiles conducting the water to the drain.....which is fine.
However, the whole of the room is wet which doesn't drain away and one has to put towels down as the wet tiles are slippery.
If you have to have a Wet Room, have a door to the shower.

very disappointing.
All the wet rooms I have seen and used have textured tiles to avoid slipping
One of ours is perfect and drains absolutely dry the other one is mostly okay but it has a little lagoon in one corner, where they obviously didn't get the fall right when they laid the floor, that you have to mop and dry, and that is irritating. Overall I really like them though.
sqad sounds like yours has not got enough slope, they should drain dry very quickly.
The floor of a "wet room" is really just a huge shower tray.
There should never be any remaining water.
Sqad. Your wet room sounds very dangerous for you and mrs S. please be careful .
agree with anne - strategically placed bathmats (the non-slip sort) might be more convenient for Sqad, and textured tiles as Rockrose suggests might be a good long-term solution. Nobody should be killed by their bathroom floor.
unless they deserve it :)

We have two wet rooms on the ground floor, both drain well , don't need mopping unless we're cleaning.
true, woofgang, there are bathroom abusers who think the law can't touch them. The ones who keep moving my toothbrushes around, for instance.
Sounds like your installers were a right shower, Sqad.
After spending over two months in hospital with a broken neck recently, I was more than happy to get up at 5:45 am for an assisted shower in the wet-room.
The floor surface was semi absorbent but also drained towards the drain hole at the lowest point, so it will dry out in time.
