For the past few weeks here in my office we have been subjected to a swarm of tiny flies - so much so that its becoming impossible to sit at my desk as I usually do to eat my lunch. We have currently cider vinegar fly traps and yellow sticky paper - the paper is full of them and so are the vinegar traps but still they come. Is there anything further we can do to get rid of them?
We have never had this problem before even in the very hot summer last year. BTW - we do not have any plants in the room either
Your Answer...we would probably need at least 10 - that's how bad the problem is - and its not just my office - they have them in all the offices in this building
I would say, find out how they're getting in. Do what you can to prevent this. Traps are good once they're in... but the main issue is that they're getting in.
"Above a recently closed bar" - I imagine there are bits of food and drink kicking around down there which is what they are attracted to.
Unless the thing that is attracting them is removed, the best you can do is kill them. You could try one of those ultra violet zappers. We find ours quite effective.
Any alcohol residues (part bottles left open, spillages) in the closed bar will be a breeding ground for tiny flies - probably a kind of fruit fly.
It needs to be checked and cleaned out if necessary.
Not much help... but after returning home a few days ago, no flies moths or any flying insects about... however they're plenty of healthy looking spiders about... how do they get in.
