My green wheelie bin went missing on Monday. Now I think I know who's got it!
;-)
I'm wondering how much 'management' such ponds need though in order for them not to end up as just puddles of green, slimy stagnant water? As a kid I tried sinking old washing up bowls into the ground (and perhaps adding some vegetation sourced from local ponds) in order to attract frogs and toads, etc but I always seemed to end up with just a lot of smelly green ooze (much to my mother's irritation). So what's the trick to getting it right?
No expert on ponds, but I think putting a net over it in autumn should keep the leaves out. Otherwise, I'll keep it topped up and remove any blanket weed etc.
Everyone on the site has got a green bin, the council stopped the service (unless you paid) some years ago.
