Griselinia Hedge

We planted a hedge of griselinia bushes at my daughters early May. She has just noticed some have a few black leaves. She lives opposite the beach but these are planted along the side of the house. We gave just had a few days of really bad wind. Could this just be wind damage and will it recover. We planted 50 plants although they haven't all suffered

The RHS website says Griselinia 'may be affected by leaf spot' (which is fungal in nature). This (international) gardening forum has a similar question from a UK member, with several people also suggesting that a fungus might be involved:

As you suggest, it might just be wind damage but it would seem to make sense to remove and burn the affected leaves just to be on the safe side of things.

(NB: I know next to nothing about most aspects of gardening, so I'm far from being an expert, but I do know that 'remove and burn' seems to be the standard first line of defence against a fungal disease).

It seems to be resistant to coastal exposure, so maybe that can be ruled out.
