I’ve just moved into a flat and the boiler is in the cupboard in my room. The mechanical timer looks ancient and is quite noisy. I removed it from the case and left it hanging by its wires and this greatly reduced the rate long noise but I then panicked and put it back in to be safe. Is there anything I can do myself to reduce the noise? If not could I ask our plumber to remove the timer completely and then we’d just opposite central heating via thermostat? Thanks so much
I don't know why the timer should be noisy - it's only a clock. Short of replacing it can you insulate it inside the cupboard with a cushion or pillow?
