Little Green Paint French Grey
21 Answers
Little Green Paint French Grey / French Grey Dark.
My *** samples haven't arrived and we need to start painting in the next couple of days at the very latest! The kitchen is being fitted a week tomorrow.
Can anyone recommend this paint, especially the quality. The tiles and kitchen units and worktops are all varying shades of grey but I want something warmer on the walls.

Ignore the tiles on the left, its the tile and door in the right we're having.

Any thoughts on the paints mentioned above would be gratefully received.

This is the one, Mamya, that I am leaning towards.

My paint samples won't come today and they certainly won't come tomorrow so we may have to take a chance.

CG, I can't find anything on their site as to how their paints are made. That's a bit worrying, and "Trustpilot" reviews are mixed... some completely negative.
Since the rise of Farrow & Ball, a load of often farty "back to earth" paint makers have climbed aboard.
Are they clay/chalky traditional paints, or modern alkyd or acrylic types.
Which do you fancy?

I think The Builder is right: you pay through he nose for the likes of Farrow and Ball and Little Greene. Dulux do a heritage range which you might be able to find a sample of at your local B&Q or similar DIY place:

Ok, so you're going for the more traditional formulas then?
I'm sorry I have no experience of this make. I've always used either F&B or "Earthborn" clay paints.
In most cases, texture isn't as important as some think. If it is, then chalky/clay paints can't be beaten.
If the only issue is colour, then I wouldn't dismiss the idea of scouring through paint charts and especially colours that are mixed to order at most paint outlets.
All you need is the British Standard colour number to get it mixed.
I have to disagree with annie about grey. It's no more "over" than white is ;o)
The one I've used in my own house is a "RAL" colour. It's just another bunch of colour numbers to choose from. (I have it mixed at my builders merchants.)
Also, Dulux have come a long way with their various heritage/traditional colours.
Sorry I'm not being of much help here. I really don't know about Little Greene. I just wanted to point out that colours are available from a load of different sources.

Your input is very much appreciated, TB. We did discuss getting a paint mixed and even visited somewhere that can do that for us when we purchased some F&B samples a few weeks ago but I really like the LG French Grey Dark - it's exactly the colour I had in mind - but bearing in mind that they can look vastly different when you actually start painting them on your walls.
