Just like everything else, my boiler insurance has gone up and I'm left to decide whether to cancel or see if I can get a better deal.
Any recommendations? TIA.
I used to be with Homeserve but changed to 24/7 when Homeserve put it up to £30 a month.
Now 24/7 have put it up to £34.
How come yours is only £17 Sparkly?
Since moving to my current address (circa 6 years ago), I’ve had no major issues with my gas boiler. At £30/month, I’d have paid over £2,000 in insurance for nothing – I recommend you become your own insurer and pay for any repairs yourself.
That's what I do, Hymie
I'm lucky enough to be able to ring fence enough money to cover repairs/replacement but I do have house insurances in case the house gets blown up or down.
We have a Worcester boshe boiler. 11 months old. Seven years parts and labour warranty. Yesterday the thermostat died. The local company charged £75 for call out. Couldn’t fix it, and have passed it to Worcester/boshe to sort out. Leaving us in the cold while they find an engineer to send out. Regardless of the seller to us who is 150 yards away. Strange as they fitted the darn thing but now do not honour the agreement.
Stop this insurance scam and find a good, recommended, local, small ideally family business. Call them when needed and pay only for what they do - when needed. That is what I did and never looked back.
It’s a proper company it’s just that they are reverting to the warranty rather than using the claim for work done from Worcester/boshe. My complaint is the waiting period while Worcester sort out an engineer. Silly isn’t it.
I'm with British Gas, and I have their HomeCare Two cover, which covers my boiler and a gas fire. My last annual payment was £441.76, which works out at £36.75 a month. I have no complaints about the service that I have had from British Gas.
If I have reason to call on British Gas to sort out a problem, they arrive pretty promptly. I appreciate quick service, and I don't mind paying for it.
The thing is with 24/7, it means you can call them out at any time of the day or night, I presume that's what it means.
Will phone them on Monday to see if I can get them to bring the price down.
There's no way I could manage without my heating now I'm older, I feel the cold a lot more.
