When my timer control turns my central heating on or off it trips the fuse on the mains electricity supply. I think the pump has stopped working could this be the cause.

I think you mean it trips the RCD which would indicate an earth fault. If the pump internal seals have failed and water is getting in then it could well be your problem. Disconnect it completely to see if it still does it. Also check elsewhere for leaks getting into other electrical parts.
