Pasta when you paint over anaglypta often the pattern will start to go as it is just a raised pattern with nothing under it. Blown Vinyl on the other hand is a pattern that is there to stay so no flat bits. There are loads of different ones to choose from too. As Ken says they cover a lot of imperfections in the walls.

I suppose that wallpaper would go with the swagged curtains and patterned carpet but definitely not for us.

Depends on the circumstances - I changed mine when I noticed it was the same as that in Del Boy's flat.

The last time that I painted the walls in my house was when I moved in, 32 years ago!

I did have wallpaper on the chimney breast once, and I really loved this paper until it was up on the wall and I realised it didn't go with the carpet
Eventually, it had to come off and I now have it the same colour as the other walls so it goes with the carpet and the curtains.

Twice in the last twelve years, two walls are very plain so they look painted, the feature wall is a subtle mix of yellow, grey, silver and white as it is opposite the windows it reflects loads of light. I am happy with it at the moment but sometimes the decorating bug strikes and things can change very quickly.
