Converting A Bath To Shower

My neighbour has just got hers done this week.  Hubby has a lot of back and hip problems and she told me she was afraid too in case she slipped.

Now I'm the same but had a little difficulty in getting into the bath for a shower and I know I will have to convert some day.

Guys were at it a good 3 days - was that long

I know some of you guys have had it done - how much is it including everything.  thanks

I can't remember the exact amount JJ but well worth having it done , my son in law knew the tradesmen required for the job to do it via his own job

There are companies that fit in a day - it is a preformed cubicle of standard bath size with plastic type tiles.

Why not ask your neighbour how much hers cost?   If you already have a bath over electric shower or power shower that will reduce the work needed and the cost.

I had mine changed into a Wet Room which is what I think you should do jj.  All floor the same level, just slopes slightly towards the shower on the wall.  No steps anywhere.  Have a Google of Wet Rooms. Loo and basin still in there of course.

We have very low profile shower trays, so a step of only a couple of inches, if that.  It keeps the shower area warmer having shower screens, I think.  

Our bathroom is fairly small although the shower is large, everything would be soaked if it were a wet room.

Barry everything does not get soaked in a wet room if you have a screen around the shower as I have.

I recently had my bath taken out and a large shower unit with a mixer shower put in.  I paid about £8000.

Jenny, why not tell your neighbour that you're thinking of having it done as hers is so good and say, 'I hope you don't mind me asking but was it very expensive?' She'll then probably tell you how much it cost

bt the way I meant to ask you - whilst you are getting your bath to shower  - do you need to get a new toilet and sink

No JJ. You could keep your old toilet if you wish. We had a new WC fitted seperately because I needed extra height. The company who installed our complete shower package included a a smaller new wash hand basin in a vanity unit /cupboard which we requested for extra storeage. The whole project cost about £10,000 which included wall and ceiling panels. No worries about mucky tile grout in the future. Well worth converting from bath to enclosed shower. We even have a folding seat so I can do the crosswords whilst I douche.  😁
