I don't have one but I did use one for two weeks whilst we were on holiday.

It kept turning itself off for no reason I could work out.  I couldn't really see the point of it - I think hot drinks made with reboiled water or kept hot is unpleasant.

I wouldn't consider one because my tap water is very hard.  It would kill a Qooker.

We had them at work and the number of screams heard when various members of staff 'accidentally' burned their fingers after getting caught out thinking the water was on cold.

They frighten me for the reason SharonA mentioned. It's easy enough to boil a kettle instead.

I've led a travel survey team working at some very posh offices in Surrey.  All of the office staff there were entitled to take a coffee break whenever they wanted, with everything provided for them and with hot water available from Quooker taps.  Our team were invited to also make use of the facilities but I thought that it seemed far too easy to end up scalding oneself from those damned stupid taps.  I simply couldn't get on with them!

I was badly scalded by a kettle when I was little.  I stupidly put it under the cold water tap straight after it had boiled and the steam scalded my arm.

I know someone that has one. They seem quite ok with it. 

I've a Brevill 1 Cup that boils 1 cup of water in seconds That suits me fine.  I find a little hard to lift a kettle these days..

I've got one and wouldn't be without out it. They are very safe and you've no more at risk of being scalded than with a kettle.

As an aside, if you have mobility problems with your hands, see if you can test one before buying. They work like a tablet bottle, press and turn. I could see it being a problem for some.

And just to add, in the 9 years I've had it no one has scalded themselves, in much the same way that no one here has been hurt by a kettle

If there is such a scald risk, why not anodise or paint them red as a visual reminder ?

 

Always looked too expensive for me  but I can see they could be useful. Are they not wasteful of energy though, having to keep water at a near boiling temperature permanently, or are they very well insulated ?

those people that have them:

do you have it over the sink or elsewhere?

are they easy ish  to do with 1 hand?

are they really hot enough for a cuppa?

are they really expensive to run?

If it wasn't over a sink where on earth would it be?  It needs to be plumbed in to the water and it also needs some sort of drain underneath it.

If you live in a hard water area like me it's likely that you would also have to fork out for a water softening system.

I believe that water softener installers don't advise their use to soften water which is for drinking.

If I had the money for one, I'd buy a new kettle & put the rest towards upcoming leccy bills.  I can't think when I've ever (or would ever) need instant boiling water.
