We usually opt for a fixed tariff, we are currently on the price cap.
Is Octopus worth a gamble as the price can change every day

Whether you choose a variable or fixed tariff is, of course, a bit of a gamble...I'm on my second fixed tariff currently (a one-year). My first was for two years and I saved a huge amount over the price-cap.
They've just reduced my DD by 40% - without prompting from me. Their communication is excellent, too.
I was switched from Shell to Octopus at the start of the year, my bills have been all over the place - short periods, different periods for electric & gas. I'm assured it will be just monthly from now but wait & see.
Compared to Shell the Octopus website is an absolute nightmare - whoever designed it must have been on acid!
I'll keep looking for a decent switch with some savings.
