Try a higher wattage fuse? Or buy a better vacuum cleaner?

DON'T fit a higher rated fuse than specified by Dyson, the fuse is there to protect the motor and cable from overheating and short-circuits. A higher-rated fuse may not blow but the cable or motor may burn out possibly causing a fire.

The Dyson is drawing more current than it was designed to, probably through a developing fault. I suggest you get it repaired by a Dyson repair engineer.

please remember the fuse is there for your safety.

The fuse is overloaded either because there is a fault or it is too small. We don't know what size fuse is being used and as modern vacuum cleaners draw a fair amount of current, ours is 1700 watts, around 7.5 amps, the fuse should be 10 or 13 amps. If it still continues to blow at 13 amps then it is obvious there is an overload and it needs repairing. timcapper is perfectly right to be concerned about fuse sizes but where the normal load is high anyway the biggest sizes need to be used.

Stanleyman - as the Dysons come with 13A fuses I was assuming it was a 13A that was blowing but you were right to make the clarification.

cheers.

Hi mine done the same, try cleaning the filter and where it goes, it might be clogged therefor over heating.

Hi there,

Dysons have a safety cut out.Your filters may need cleaning/replacing causing overheating. If no obvious cause then please do have it looked at by a qualified technician. My dyson would cut out if i was hoovering alot of fine dust. The dyson would then not restart for 10mins until cool. There was no fuse replacement neccesary, just time to cool.
