Laying a new lawn
Last October I layed a new lawn in my back garden,I dug up all the old turf levelled it all out and got rid of all the larger stones.
I then layed the turf and staggerd it, it is now february and some of the grass has taken but some I can still lift up.
Why would some of the grass grow and some not even if they are on the same roll?

The turf may not have been sliced with even thickness when it was originally cut from the field or wherever. However, it's not really grass growing weather yet so I'd be inclined to be patient a while longer. Did you roll the turf down originally? This does help to ensure the bottom of the turf blends with the soil beneath. If by the end of April not much is happening I'd be tempted to buy some grass seed and sprinkle it on the bare patches of turf and just cover it lightlyu with a sprinkling of soil. . Grass is pretty resilient and once it's taken hold you'll probably find the grass spreads over the bare patches.
