Best way to quickly defrost the fridge

Can anyone tell me the best way to defrost a fridge? Can I use bowls of hot water with salt in them, or a squirt of lemon? Many thanks.

If you are not in a rush, empty your fridge and pack it with newspaper. Separate the sheets and 'scrunch' them, before packing as much as you can into the fridge. Place plenty more sheets of paper on the floor around the fridge. Switch it off, and leave it overnight.

By morning, you may have some water to mop up, but once you ditch all the sodden paper, you can clean your fridge out, re-stock, and switch it on again. Job done.

If you have nothing else to do, you can monitor progress and replace paper as it gets soaked - but I can never be fagged to do that, I just let it flood a bit and spend the time doing something more useful - sleeping usually!

Do as I do, carry it outside and sit it in the sun with the door open!

Use a hair drier for small areas.....i take my freezer outside and defrost it with a wallpaper steamer.....does the trick every time !!!

you can by some sort of deicer stuff for it espeacailly for freezers im sure ive seem it in those betterware books not sure where else sells it or wether you could use normal deicer dont know wot the diffrence is in it

I've used saucepans of boiling water in the past to defrost a fridge & upright freezer, and on one occasion a hairdryer on "warm" aimed at some particular stubborn chunks of ice. Put plenty of old towels or a bowl at the bottom to catch the drips and don't let the plastic inner lining get too hot if you're using a hairdryer as the direct heat could damage it.

Get your de-icer from Halfords, it works on car windscreens!

Tumble drier vent pipe, a whole lot safer that using a hairdrier next to dripping water!!!

There are some badly designed lorries and cheap electrical items somehow fall off the back of them. I'm not quite sure how but people talk about them on the television.
