Cleaning suede

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning suede trainers? I wore a new pair out on Saturday night and have got other peoples footprints all over them!! Would it be ok try soapy water? Thanks

Try not to get them any wetter than possible and pat off as much surplus moisture as possible with an old absorbent towel. Light colours might be a little more difficult if the footprints contain the black rubber of undersoles of shoes but I used a little diluted Ariel washing machine liquid and got good results.
I've got some suede boots. You can get a suede cleaner from any good shoe shop which is pretty easy to use. Mine was from clarks and gets the dirt off. From memory (don't hold me to it, I'm getting old) I believe you spray it on direct, but it has directions... If I want to buff them up I just boil the kettle, hold them over the steam and then with the non brush side of a clothes brush rub over them. Seems to do the trick for me.
