Hi all. I currently have a woodstained front door that I intend to paint Blue. What should my plan of attack be? Do I have to sand, prime and then gloss? Does the primer need to be any particular colour and finally does the gloss have to be an exterior gloss? Many thanks

This is probably the WRONG answer, but hey. I just painted my front door. It was stained wood. I just washed the door down, and used 2 coats of non-drip gloss. Came up lovely. I used a gloss which was suitable for indoor and outdoor use, but I think most of them are?
For the best front door finish rub it down well with a medium sandpaper; wash off to remove the dust; apply one coat white primer; apply two undercoats of light grey undercoat; then finish with one coat gloss. Use exterior gloss and good quality materials (ICI, Akzo or similar).
