Pink Blossom Trees

I keep seeing trees with really nice pick blossom on it. They seem to be everywhere in Essex. Does anyone know the name of the tree? It would be nic e to get one in our garden which hasn't got a lot of colour.

Usually they are ornamental flowering cherries or prunus species (prunus Kanzan for example).

They also have the benifit of gloriously coloured autumn leaves but will not produce fruit like the normal cherry.

They get big....25' + but there are some dwarf varieties and some can be grown in tubs.

The are from the rose family (roseacae)

Dunno what tree you're talking about but we have a tree in our garden that blossoms with pink and it's a right pain - when all the blosom falls off you can't see the grass for it - not funny when the grass needs mowing and the blossom gets even more shredded up in the mower!!!

i have one of those also flipflop the blossom gets into the house also, i,ve found blossom in my underwear drawer.

hammerman is right, Ornamental Cherries, I live in Essex, and these trees are everywhere, really nice to look at.

I'm inclined to agree with hammerman and would say its most likely to be one of the ornamental cherries most flower march - may depending on variety, some of the Japanese flowering cheries are the most eye catching. Other possibilities with pink blossoms in flower now are- ornamental plum (Prunus purperia). Flowering crab (Malus profusion) Or maybe its one of the pink flowering Magnolias, many of which are out now, these need quite a bit of space, as they are wide spreading as they mature.
